TrackMedia is a hosted content distribution tool for creators, in-house marketing teams and agencies. You write one master draft and it prepares a version for each connected network, checking limits such as character counts and image aspect ratios before the post goes out. The goal is to cut the effort of posting the same material to many platforms.

Beyond scheduling with timezone support, it handles threads, carousels, first comments and alt text, and can crosspost from one account to others with platform-specific adjustments and deduplication. Every link becomes a short tracked link with UTM tags, so analytics show which post on which network drove clicks, alongside impressions, saves, shares and followers. A REST API with a TypeScript SDK, a CLI and an MCP server support automation and use from AI assistants.

Supported networks include LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Reddit, Mastodon, Telegram and Discord, among others. TrackMedia is a proprietary SaaS product with a free tier; its site states that every network is included in every plan and that no card is needed to sign up.

Key features

  • Write once, adapt per network automatically
  • Scheduling with timezone support
  • Threads, carousels, first comments and alt text
  • Crosspost between accounts with deduplication
  • Tracked short links with automatic UTM tags
  • Per-post analytics across 20 networks
  • REST API, TypeScript SDK and CLI
  • MCP server for AI assistants

Pricing: Free plan available (start for free, no card required); the site states every network is included in every plan.

n8n is a workflow automation platform for connecting apps, moving data between them and triggering actions without writing a full integration from scratch. Workflows are built on a visual canvas, and when a step needs more logic you can drop in JavaScript or Python and use npm packages. It is often compared with Zapier and Make, but the source is public and it can run on your own infrastructure.

Recent versions put a lot of weight on AI. You can build multi-step agents and LLM workflows that call OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or open-source models, add human approval steps, and inspect what happened afterward. The project advertises over a thousand integrations and a large library of ready-made workflow templates, and you can extend it with your own nodes.

n8n is distributed under a fair-code model: the Sustainable Use License, plus a separate enterprise license for additional features. The code is always visible and can be self-hosted, for example with Docker, but it is not an OSI-approved open-source license, so commercial redistribution is restricted. A managed cloud edition is available if you would rather not run it yourself.

Key features

  • Visual workflow canvas with branching logic
  • JavaScript and Python code steps with npm packages
  • Multi-step AI agents with human approval
  • Over 1,500 integrations plus reusable templates
  • Connects to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or local models
  • Role-based access and audit trails
  • Self-hosting with Docker or managed cloud

Pricing: Free self-hosted Community Edition. Hosted plans cost 20€ (Starter), 50€ (Pro) and 667€ (Business) per month billed annually, scaled by workflow executions; Enterprise is custom. Free trial available.

BrightBean Studio is an open-source social media management platform for creators, agencies, and small businesses. It covers what tools like Buffer, Sendible, and SocialPilot do, planning, composing, scheduling, approving, and publishing posts, but without per-seat, per-channel, or per-workspace limits. It is built with Django, HTMX, and Tailwind CSS and released under the AGPL-3.0 license.

A single multi-workspace dashboard connects to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Google Business Profile, Mastodon, and DEV.to. Features include unlimited organizations, workspaces, and members with role-based access and a client role for outside collaborators, and a content composer with per-platform overrides, version history, templates, and categories. All integrations use the official first-party APIs with your own developer credentials.

The README says every feature is available to every user, with no paid tier. You can deploy it with one-click buttons on Heroku, Render, or Railway, run it with Docker on your own VPS, or use a free hosted version at brightbean.xyz/studio. It suits agencies that manage many client accounts and want to own their social stack.

Key features

  • Scheduling and publishing across 11 platforms
  • Multi-workspace dashboard for agencies
  • Role-based access with a client role
  • Content composer with per-platform overrides
  • Approval workflows and version history
  • Docker and one-click cloud deployment

Pricing: A free plan lets you publish your own posts. A one-time $7 week trial leads to the Plan at $119 per workspace per month, or Managed at $1,499; members are unlimited.

Mixpost is a social media management platform that you run on your own server, positioned as an open-source alternative to Buffer. It helps brands, agencies and small businesses plan, schedule and publish content from a single place, without a per-seat subscription.

You can bring all your social accounts together, build a content calendar and schedule posts for the times your audience is most active. Team features let you assign tasks, manage permissions and watch team performance. Analytics show audience behavior for each platform based on the data that the networks provide.

Mixpost is built with Laravel, PHP and Vue and is licensed under MIT. The project says it targets enterprises, small and medium businesses, marketing agencies, solopreneurs and e-commerce stores. Its description promises no subscriptions and no limits, since you host it and control the data yourself.

Key features

  • Content calendar for scheduling social posts
  • Cross-platform posting from one dashboard
  • Social accounts managed in one place
  • Per-platform engagement analytics
  • Team task assignment and permissions

Pricing: The Lite edition is free and open source. Pro is a one-time $299 and Enterprise a one-time $1,199, each with a year of updates and a perpetual fallback license.

Shoutrrr is a social media scheduling tool that you run yourself. You connect your accounts, draft a post once and send it to several networks at the same time or queue it to go out on a recurring schedule. It is presented as an open-source alternative to Buffer, Typefully and Hootsuite, with no monthly seat fees and no third party holding your tokens or data.

Supported platforms include X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Threads and Discord, and the text can be adjusted per network. A posting queue with recurring time slots and a month calendar keeps the feed consistent, and analytics show how posts perform. Teams get workspaces, roles and email invites, so clients or brands can be kept separate.

It is written in PHP, runs anywhere Docker does and is released under the Apache 2.0 licence. The project comes from the coollabsio organization and is relatively new, with its first release in mid-2026.

Key features

  • One post published to multiple networks
  • Per-network text adjustments
  • Posting queue with recurring time slots
  • Month calendar view
  • Workspaces, roles and email invites
  • Post performance analytics
  • Docker-based self-hosting

Pricing: The open source app is free to self-host. Managed Shoutrrr Cloud costs $10 per month, including $5 of X API usage, with no per-seat fees.

Postiz alternatives: questions

What is the best open-source alternative to Postiz?
n8n is the top-ranked open-source alternative to Postiz on Enlisted: A fair-code workflow automation platform that mixes a visual canvas with custom code and AI agent features, for teams connecting apps and automating processes. Other strong options are BrightBean Studio, Mixpost and Shoutrrr.
Should I choose an open-source alternative to Postiz or a hosted one?
Open-source alternatives are free to run, but you host and maintain them yourself. TrackMedia is hosted, so there is no server to run, and it lets you do much more for the price of a cup of coffee a month: one draft published to 20 networks, clicks tracked per post and per network, and an API, CLI and MCP server. It has a free plan to try first.
Are these Postiz alternatives free?
All 4 are open source, so the code is free to use under its licence, and all of them can be self-hosted on your own server or computer. 2 also offer a paid or managed cloud version if you'd rather not host it yourself.
How is this list of Postiz alternatives ranked?
By a score built from GitHub stars, star growth over the last 30 days and how recently the code changed. 3 of these projects shipped code in the last 30 days. TrackMedia sits at number 1 as a hand-picked hosted option and is not part of the score. Data is refreshed daily, and nobody can pay to move up.
