Installed as an extension for Chrome or Safari, or used in the web app, it converts the page you are on into listen-ready audio with one click, and streaming means playback begins within about ten seconds. Voices on offer include Shimmer, Onyx, Nova, Echo, Fable and Alloy.

Playback can run at speeds up to nine times, generated audio files can be downloaded to use anywhere, and one-click sharing sends audio to friends without an app. Usage is measured in characters per billing period, and going over during an article is allowed so playback is not cut off, with the excess deducted from the next period.
