About MeTube

MeTube is a self-hosted web UI for yt-dlp. You paste a link from YouTube or one of hundreds of other sites, and it downloads the content to your server. It handles video, audio, subtitles and thumbnails, from single videos, entire playlists or whole channels. It is written in Python and released under the AGPL-3.0 license.

Beyond one-off downloads, it supports subscriptions to channels and playlists that queue new uploads as they appear. Quality, format and folder can be chosen for each download, and server-wide yt-dlp options and presets are available. The wiki contains guides, recipes and a troubleshooting FAQ, and the README suggests checking it before filing feature requests.

MeTube runs in Docker or Docker Compose and is then reached in a browser on port 8081. Images are multi-architecture for amd64 and arm64 and are also published on Docker Hub. Configuration uses environment variables, including the user and group it runs as, umask, log level, theme and the number of concurrent downloads.
