About Medplum

Medplum is an open-source developer platform for building healthcare applications quickly. It is written in TypeScript and licensed under Apache-2.0. The pieces are designed to give developers a standards-based foundation, so teams do not build identity, data storage and APIs from scratch when creating compliant clinical software.

The platform has several parts. Medplum Auth handles sign-in and permissions with OAuth, OpenID and SMART-on-FHIR. The Clinical Data Repository is a backend that stores healthcare data in a secure, standards-based way, and a FHIR-based API sends, receives and changes that data. Client SDK libraries simplify calling the API, and a web app lets you view and edit data and manage basic workflows.

Bots let you run application logic on the server without hosting your own, and a React component library speeds up building custom healthcare interfaces. Project topics reference FHIR, electronic health records, HIPAA, SOC 2 and GraphQL. The repository is the company's entire product rather than a small library, so contributing involves following its ground rules and the Developer Certificate of Origin.
