About Local Hair Color
Local Hair Color lets you see a different hair color on yourself before committing to an appointment or box dye. You choose one photo or video, an on-device model finds the outline of your hair, and you flip through shades, adjust the intensity and tap Natural to compare with the original. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed, and the original file stays untouched when you save a new copy.
Sixteen starter shades are grouped into natural tones such as honey blonde, platinum and espresso, trending shades such as copper, auburn and silver, and bold colors such as pink, blue, purple and green, and you can pick your own color with Apple's color picker. Because automatic detection can miss flyaways or be confused by hats and backlight, photos offer add and remove brushes in three sizes, with undo and a reset to the automatic selection. A video mode shows how a color looks as you move.
The app is free to download for iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later and lets you preview a shade on your own photo before paying. A pricing page lists the options, and the site has guides, an FAQ and support pages.
