About Health Provider API
Health Provider API lets healthtech teams confirm a provider's NPI against the official US NPPES registry instead of parsing raw registry JSON. A GET request to /api/v1/npi/{npi} with a bearer API key returns registry status, entity type (NPI-1 or NPI-2), name, primary taxonomy and license, mailing address, practice locations, enumeration date and last updated date.
Responses are normalized for onboarding forms and provider rosters and carry request IDs so each check can be traced. Higher plans add a quality-freshness enrichment header. The site stresses that an NPI lookup does not prove licensure or credentialing, so clinical and legal checks remain the customer's responsibility. An OpenAPI spec, a Postman collection and a docs quickstart are provided.
A free tier gives 100 lookups a month with one API key and no credit card. Paid tiers, referred to as Growth and above, add enrichment and are described on the pricing page, and a docs section and resources page are linked for integration help.
