About BatNoter
BatNoter is a note-taking web application built for people who want their notes stored as plain files in a git repository rather than in a proprietary database. It is aimed at developers and GitHub users who already trust GitHub for storage and want a clean interface for creating and organizing markdown notes on top of it.
Users log in with GitHub, after which notes can be created, edited, organized into nested folders and explored through a clean interface, with full markdown support for links, tables, headings, code blocks and blockquotes, plus a live preview and a one-click copy button for code blocks. Notes are cached to reduce repeated API calls, URLs can be bookmarked to specific notes, and both dark and light modes are supported.
The frontend is built with React, TypeScript, Redux Toolkit and MUI components, and it talks to a separate BatNoter API backend that implements the REST endpoints it consumes. BatNoter requires Node.js 18 or newer for local development and is released under the MIT license.
