Page Assist is a browser extension, released as open source, with a sidebar and a web interface for AI models running on your own machine. It lets you talk to a local model from any webpage without switching to a separate chat application.

The sidebar opens on any page, and the web UI behaves like a ChatGPT-style site for your model. A chat-with-webpage feature lets you ask questions about the content of the page you are viewing. It works with Ollama as the local provider and with any OpenAI API compatible endpoint, such as LM Studio or llamafile. Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome, Brave and Edge are supported, as well as Firefox.

Page Assist is written in TypeScript and released under the MIT licence. It can be installed from the browser's extension store or built manually with Bun, and the project lists several sponsors from the AI API space.

Key features

  • Sidebar available on any webpage
